CRESCENDO BY BECCA FITZPATRICK BOOK REVIEW

Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick

Publisher: Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing

Publication Date: October 19th 2010

Pages: 427

Series: Hush, Hush book 2

Age Bracket: Young Adult

Synopsis: Feisty teen Nora Grey somehow survived the crises of Hush, Hush!, but dangers just as frightening loom in this standalone sequel. Patch, her guardian angel and love interest, appears to have a dark side and a wandering eye. Worse yet, he seems intent on obstructing Nora as she hunts for the truth behind her father's mysterious death.

Just like the first novel, this installment in the Hush Hush series followed the same pattern; mysterious and creepy style and the climax part is where all the loose ends to the story in the book were being concluded. Although this book is a lot more emotional than the first one, since it’s mostly dealing with the break-up of Nora and Patch. It contains more emotio and drama than action and mystery that kept me grasping for more.

As for Nora, I found myself being annoyed to her sometimes, because she’s not being rational enough and she easily jumps into the nearest conclusion she could think of and she’s very impulsive to make a quick decision and soon she regrets it. She emotionally suffers a lot because of Patch’s involvement with Marcie, the girl who bullies her from her childhood to present and she’s still not over with her dad’s death. But basically she’s the one tormenting herself for not trying to hear out the reasons of Patch and tries to understand him. Although at some point I could also empathize with her emotional episodes.

And in this book I could say that Vee is my favorite character. She’s playing the part of the hero best friend who’s always on the rescue for Nora’s needs. And I love to hear those humors in her lines.

And on the revealing part of the mysteries, I was so shocked and I can’t believe that he’s the villain in this book. As in, I didn’t see that coming and I didn’t have a clue, or if there are clues to it, maybe I haven’t given much attention to it.

And when I reach the end part, I actually swear, and I think that I might be missing another page to the book. I got paranoid in thinking I’m missing the last page of the book. But it really is the end, and it ended in a cliff hanger way, something to look forward for the sequel.

This is on my TBR pile. In Hush, Hush I wasn't a fan of Vee and how pushy she was, but in your review it sounds like she's better in this novel.
