Synopsis: Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly
264 days.
The last time she did, it was an accident,
but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's
touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares.
The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old
girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't
fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.
The Reestablishment said their way was the
only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people
are dead that the survivors are whispering war-- and The Reestablishment has
changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a
poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.
Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon.
Or be a warrior.
Awesome and breath taking read. I hate to say this but the first few parts of the novel became hard for me to digest and get myself so engrossed to until the romance part kicks in. The love story is very cute and interesting and for me it’s the life of the novel since it’s a dystopian book and the plot is in the middle of chaos. For a debut author, the writing is quite fresh and exceptional, especially since Mafi wrote it from the perspective of the main character. It’s incredible to share the adventure with Juliette in untangling what she really is.
The
characters are incredibly good even the villain played well and surpassed my
standard of hateful antagonist. And Adam is gorgeous. I could just imagine how
gentle and caring he is and he’s making a name in my favourite list of
characters. Even the minor characters are awesome well played.
Well, the
ending took me by surprise; I just didn’t expect it to end like that. Anyway it
will be more convenient to read the rest of the series.
